Boothbay Animal Hospital was founded in 1975 in Boothbay Center and was housed in an old farmhouse that underwent several expansions and changes as the practice grew. In 1989 the practice expanded to Wiscasset and Coastal Veterinary Care was established. The original building was finally unable to keep up with the practice and Dr. Domeyer built a beautiful new facility at 285 Wiscasset Rd. (Rt. 27) in Boothbay. The new clinic opened in January 2008.
The new clinic includes a spacious waiting room, 5 exam rooms, a large laboratory/pharmacy space, treatment/dental room, radiology, surgery suite, isolation, cat room, dog kennel room, offices and a staff lounge. The practice is now positioned to serve our patients for many years in our new space.
Although our veterinarians rotate between offices, we generally have the same staff in each office. Our staff is dedicated and knowledgeable and they are the reason our practice can accomplish what it does. Our Boothbay staff includes:
Lucy Cressey: Licensed Veterinary Technician. Lucy will soon celebrate her 23rd anniversary with the practice. She came to work for Dr. Wahlstrom during the early days of the practice and has been an integral part of its growth and change. Lucy enjoys educating clients and seems to know everyone who walks in the door. She lives in Boothbay Harbor with her husband Butch.
Lori Buckingham: Veterinary Assistant. Lori came to the practice in 1999 with experience working in several other small animal practices. Her efficiency and technical skill are greatly appreciated by the staff and patients. Lori lives in Boothbay with her daughter Lindsay.
Jill Plummer: Receptionist. Jill is a Boothbay native and joined the practice in 1999. She seems to have a smile for everyone who comes through the door and is cheerful, patient and knowledgeable even under the most stressful conditions. Jill has also taken over some managerial duties. She lives in Edgecomb with her husband Justin and children Isaac and Kay.
Melissa Bosse:Receptionist. Melissa joined the practice part time in 2009. Although she spends most of her time in Boothbay, she works in both offices. She lives in Dresden with her husband Marc.

We accept our last client 15 minutes prior to closing.
Due to the walk in nature of the practice, the clinics can get very busy at certain times. Although we try to see patients on a first come-first seved basis, there are times when the wait can be long. In the case of an emergency, unexpected surgery or doctor illness there may only be two (or rarely one) veterinarian seeing patients. At certain times, we may stop admitting new patients early in order to guarantee that everyone is seen. We generally stop taking new patients 15 minutes prior to closing but this may be extended under extreme circumstances.
Saturday hours are reserved for our established
clients. If you feel your animal needs to be seen on a Saturday, you
will be charged an additional $85 emergent care fee.If you are
planning on becoming a regular client and need to be seen for the first
time on a Saturday, this fee can be applied to future services rendered
within a 1 year period.
In order to avoid these very busy times, you can do several things. The busiest times tend to be Saturday, Monday morning and at opening (10 AM and 2 PM). Arriving right at opening generally means a longer wait, since we don't accept clients early and you end up in line. Generally you can be seen fairly quickly if you come in between 10:30-11:30 or 3:00-4:00 on any weekday. We do our best to keep things moving along and most clients feel they are seen more quickly and given more adequate attention with a walk-in system.
